Finding the right Lumbar Roll

To help you find the right lumbar roll for your condition, we have added some information about the density of each lumbar roll as a general guideline.

When deciding which product to order, also consider:
  1. How much lumbar support does the seat have? (that you want to use the lumbar roll on)
    Older car seats have less support than some more modern cars

  2. Are you of petite, medium or heavy build?
    Petite people might not tolerate a firm support

  3. How big is the hollow in your low back?
    A large hollow needs more support

  4. What is your personal preference?
    Some people prefer less support than others

The Original McKenzie® SuperRoll is our most popular lumbar roll. It is a superior lumbar support that provides the ultimate in function and aesthetic value. This roll is made of injected-moulded foam, which retains support for an almost indefinite period. Its flatter, curved shape contours comfortably around the body. This is a FIRM lumbar support. It is also 400mm long, which will be too long for some car seats. Please consider the width of your car seat and the existing support, to ensure that this roll is not too long or too firm.

Medium density

This Original McKenzie® Round Lumbar Roll was the first ever lumbar roll made in the world. Robin McKenzie tried to find a cushion to give his patients in order to remain pain-free, but when he could not find anything suitable to purchase, his wife Joy started making them at the kitchen table in 1968 .

Although this roll looks quite bulky, is compresses down very easily, while still giving the appropriate support.

Medium density and flatter design "for just that little bit extra"

The Original McKenzie® SlimLine Lumbar Roll is designed to be used with modern seating that has some lumbar support, but not quite enough to properly support your low back.

It is also ideal for elderly or petite persons and those who have a limited range of motion in their low back and therefore cannot tolerate the larger size lumbar roll.

Very comfortable back support "for just that little bit extra".

Can be adjusted from minimal to firm support

The Original McKenzie® AirBack is an inflatable lumbar roll, ideal for commuters and travellers; and for use at the theatre, sporting events, movies or restaurants, etc.

It is especially useful on planes where the lumbar support is generally inadequate for long distance travel. This roll deflates flat taking up minimal space in your bag.

If you suffer from low back pain when lying down, or if your back is worse when you wake up than it was when you went to bed, you should use an Original McKenzie® Night Roll while sleeping or resting.

The Night Roll ties around your waist or can be pinned to the bed sheets, to support your lower back and prevent strain that can be caused by bad sleeping positions or inadequate sleep surfaces. Washable cover included.
